Oscar De La Hoya Wants to Revisit Jermall Charlo vs Jaime Munguia

Golden Boy Promotions’ Oscar De La Hoya is looking to expand the working relationship with Premier Boxing Champions by looking to make a fight featuring WBC middleweight champion Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (32-0, 22KO) versus #1 contender Jaime Munguia (41-0, 33KO).

This is a fight that both sides attempted to make in 2022. De La Hoya’s main sticking point was that DAZN had to be involved. Ironically, he had a similar issue with making Gervonta Davis – Ryan Garcia, but things got worked out, and the fight is a go for April 22.

With things seemingly good between the two boxing entities, the Golden Boy Promotions boss wants to revisit making the fight. De La Hoya took to social media with a message for the WBC champion.

This is a fight the boxing community would fully embrace. Furthermore, pundits have been asking for Munguia to step up and fight the top guys in the division.

The Hit Man has not been in the ring since making a fourth successful title defense against Juan Montiel in 2021. In 2022, Charlo took to social media to let the fans know he was ready to return after taking some much-needed time off to better his physical and mental state.

Munguia was last seen in the ring running over unknown Argentinian Gonzalo Gaston Coria in November 2022. In the post-fight interview, he mentioned wanting to fight the WBC champion.

The middleweight division needs to get things moving, and a fight between Charlo – Munguia is a good start.
