Yudai Shigeoka Gets a Home Crowd Versus WBC Champ Pradabsri

WBC minimumweight champion Panya Pradabsri (40-1, 24 KOs) will take the show on the road for his clash against reigning WBC Interim 105-pound champion Yudai Shigeoka (7-0, 5 KOs) on October 7 on Shigeoka’s home turf of Tokyo, Japan.

The WBC held a purse bid for the upcoming contest, and the Shigeoka’s promoter, Kameda Promotions, won the rights for the bout. Immediately after winning the purse bid, Kameda Promotions announced the fight will occur in Tokyo on a card featuring the IBF 105-pound unification contest between IBF champion Daniel Valladares and IBF Interim champion Ginjiro Shigeoka.

A HIGH-QUALITY MATCHUP

Pradabsri captured the WBC title in November 2020 with a unanimous decision victory over previously unbeaten Wanheng Menayothin. The reigning WBC champion has emerged as one of the best fighters in the lower-weight divisions. His last outing was an eight-round stoppage in a rematch over the rugged and tough Norihito Tanaka in June 2023.

Pradabsri is now facing a Shigeoka who is legit and considered a genuine threat. The lefty challenger captured the Interim belt in April of this year with a fifth-round stoppage over former WBO title holder Wilfredo Mendez.

The minimumweight champion and challenger are coming into this contest in great form. Pradabsri is in his fighting prime. Shigeoka has shown rapid improvement with each outing and is confident he will leave the ring with the WBC belt around his waist. Followers of the lower-weight divisions will have a keen eye on what has the makings to be an outstanding battle.
