Regis Prograis is very convinced Gervonta Davis fight never happens

Former super lightweight champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (26-1, 22 KO’s) is on the hunt for a fight. In his last outing he reduced Ivan Redkach to resorting to shameful theatrics to escape the bludgeoning he was soaking up. The victory marked two straight wins since Prograis’ sole career loss to undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor. Now the New Orleans native is hungry for fresh competition. His name is being tossed around by a few boxers and some options are looking better than others. The name that appears to be the most likely to get the nod is Mikey Garcia (40-1, 30 KO’s). Garcia himself has publicly stated that he likes the fight and only would require a sensible contract to be sent over. Likewise, Prograis is game for that showdown as he laid out for Fight Hype.

“I been hearing my name fucking thrown out everywhere right now! They was saying Adrien Broner, they said Mickey Garcia, Bob Arum said something about me and Crawford. So I think realistically it’s probably me and Mikey Garcia. Me and Crawford probably won’t happen because I am not going to 147 right now, I’m staying ’40 right now. I want a belt at 140 again.”

“Adrien Broner don’t want no parts of me, so Mikey Garcia said he wants to fight, I want the fight. I talked to Robert Garcia, his brother. He said he is interested in the fight. I think a lot of people are interested in that fight, so maybe Mikey Garcia might be next.”

YOU DON’T REALLY WANT NONE!

While Garcia is looking good as a solid realistic foe, it’s always fun to theorize hypothetical match-ups. So it should come as no surprise that Prograis was questioned about Gervonta “Tank” Davis (24-0, 23 KO’s). While Tank is the Regular WBA lightweight champion, he has an upcoming bout with Regular WBA World Super Lightweight champion Mario Barrios on June 26. If successful against Barrios, Tank versus the Rougarou would make for a great prizefight. Yet let Prograis tell it, that is not a real fight at all!

“Tank ain’t going to come nowhere close to me, I can fucking guarantee you that Tank ain’t going to fight me bro. Because I’m going to beat his ass, I’m going to fuck him up, that’s why!”

“It’s ain’t no personal beef, I don’t even know Tank. I don’t know him personally or nothing like that. It’s boxing beef, you know. So I think I can fuck him up, he think he can fuck me up, so let’s see what he does with Mario Barrios first.”

Before we can get overly excited about this fantasy bout, Davis has to first take care of business on June 26. If he does come out on top then there is no doubt that a dustup with Prograis would make for an all-action fight and a highly entertaining pre-fight build-up. Regardless of what happens next however, 3kingsboxing will be there to report the news.
