Gabriel Rosado Wants to Face Billy Joe Saunders

With his ring return set for November 9, WBO super middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders is in need of an opponent for his first title defense. Apparently, that’s where long-time middleweight contender Gabriel Rosado comes in.

Rosado (24-12-1, 14KOs), at the age of 33, has clearly seen better days. Known for his toughness and willingness to fight some of the best fighters from 154-160, he’s quite often come up short when given the big fight opportunity.

He’s been in the ring with the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Peter Quillin, David Lemieux and Alfredo Angulo, just to name a few.

Rosado is now campaigning for a fight with Billy Joe Saunders. Although, it’s a fight he doesn’t warrant at the moment, considering he’s 1-3-1 in his last five fights. Most recently, he lost a unanimous decision against Maciej Sulecki on March 15.

After observing the rankings, the Puerto Rican journeyman is unranked at both middleweight and super middleweight by the the WBO!

Saunders is looking for big fights against the top guys at 160 and 168. However, his first fight on DAZN will obviously be a showcase fight.

The hope is for that performance to catapult him into a possible unification fight against Callum Smith in 2020. Smith holds the WBA super middleweight title.

We shall see what materializes between the two men.3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
