Saunders vs Murray: “Battle of Britain”

Saunders/Murray set for April 14th

As previously reported by3kingsboxing.com WBO World Middleweight Champion Billy-Joe Saunders will headline what is quite possibly his biggest show in years on April 14th in the ‘Battle Of Britain’ card against multiple time world title challenger Martin Murray, exclusively live on BT Sports.

Saunders will be back in the ring following the biggest and arguably the best win of his career against Canada’s David Lemiuex in December of last year. The champion will be hoping for another good showing, this time at London’s O2 arena will help set up the big fights he craves with fellow middleweight head honchos Gennady Golovkin and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

For Martin Murray this will almost certainly be his last chance at a world title. There is a HUGE case that Martin Murray should have already been world champion. He went to Germany and Argentina to face Felix Sturm and Sergio Martinez respectively, both times coming away without a world title that many pundits and fans alike thought he deserved. A jaunt to Super Middleweight followed losing again to Arthur Abraham and then to George Groves.

Also on the card, as part of a world title double header. Manchester’s Terry Flanagan will step up to light welterweight to contest the belt vacated by Terence Crawford. Flanagan still boasts a perfect record of 33 wins from 33 fights and defended his WBO lightweight title 5 times before making the decision to move up. His opponent is Texan Maurice Hooker. Hooker has won 23 of his 26 fights with 3 draws, besting fellow American Courtney Jackson Jr for the WBO NABO Super lightweight title.
