Amanda Serrano vs Danila Ramos Set for 12 Rounds in October

Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (45-2-1, 30 KOs) returns to the ring on October 27 to defend the undisputed women’s featherweight title against Danila Ramos (12-2, 1 KO). The fight will occur at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Serrano has been one of the elite fighters in the sport for over a decade. A seven-division world champion, the resident of Brooklyn, New York became the undisputed champion at featherweight with a unanimous decision victory over Erika Cruz in February 2023. The most recent outing for Serrano was another unanimous decision rematch win over Heather Hardy in August 2023.

Ramos is the WBO mandatory challenger. In August 2023, the fighter from Sao Paulo, Brazil captured the WBO Interim featherweight title with a split decision over Brenda Karen Carbajal.

ADDED INCENTIVE

What adds extra spice to this upcoming matchup is that it is scheduled for twelve three-minute rounds. That’s the same distance you see in a world title fight for men. Usually, title fights for women are ten two-minute rounds. It will be the first time you will see a scheduled twelve-round, three-minute women’s fight since February 2007, when Layla McCarter scored an eight-round stoppage over Melissa Fernandez.

There has been a long-running debate in the sport about women fighting three-minute rounds. Many enthusiasts argue that females should be allowed to fight at the same number of rounds and minutes as men. Proponents get to see what they’ve been campaigning for in October in Florida.
