Shakhram Giyasov Bores Fans In TD Win Over Cano

In the WBA welterweight title eliminator, Shakhram “Wonder Boy” Giyasov (15-0, 9KO) walked away the victor with a lackluster performance against veteran Pablo Cesar Cano (35-9-1, 25KO).

Wonder Boy controlled the contest with movement and counter-punches throughout the fight. Despite getting hit with the occasional overhand right, he landed a punishing body shot that dropped Cano in the third round.

The veteran got extra time to recover after spitting out the mouthpiece and walking to the corner. It forced the referee to stop the clock while the corner took their time rinsing off the mouth-guard.

As the fight continued, it was the same thing as Giyasov moved around the ring fighting in spots, taking advantage of Cano’s inability to cut off the ring. In round nine, the 2016 silver medalist got a lucky call where a knockdown was ruled a slip.

The fight ended due to Cano suffering an ankle injury after falling to the canvas from the feet getting tangled up. All three judges scored it 109-99 for Wonder Boy.
