Joe Smith Jr wants another “Philly Scalp” on his resume!

There is no mistaking that for Jesse “Hard Work” Hart (26-2, 21 KO’s) his January 11 showdown with Joe Smith Jr (24-3, 20 KO’s) is about payback! For Smith Jr, however, the fight is about thwarting the best efforts of another overconfident Philly fighter. The world will get to see who prevails when they lock horns on ESPN.

PUT SOME RESPECT ON MY NAME!

Ever since his life changing bout with Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins (55-8-2, 32 KO’s), Smith Jr has been written off. While he does not like the fact, it’s not something that he allows to throw him off his square. He feels that so long as he is true to himself he has the tools to overcome the best that the division has to offer.

True, he has lost already former light heavyweight champion Sullivan Barrera (22-3, 14 KO’s) and current WBA world light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (17-0, 11 KO’s). Nevertheless, Smith is confident that he has enough gas in the tank and time on the clock to make serious noise in the division.

This is one of the primary reasons that he wants to win in grand fashion when he tangles with Hart. Claiming the scalp of another well respected fighter from Philly is a predominant motivating factor for Smith.

“It’s going to be a great night for me. I’m looking to coming out on top, but I would like to do it in fashion wearing the “Common Man” boxing trunk and adding another Philly fighter that underestimated me.”
