Errol Spence Says Crawford Fight Will Happen

Unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. (26-0, 21ko) has kept the boxing world awaiting his ring-return following his horrific October 2019 car accident.

However, the Texas champion survived without any life-altering injuries. Amid his recovery, he has mentioned wanting to become the undisputed welterweight champion. It is well documented the fight all of the boxing community is itching to see, a mega-fight between the unified champion and the WBO champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (36-0, 27ko).

These two young champions have been linked to each other like two chain gang prisoners working in the field. Moreover, during a social media exchange, the fans were treated to a saucy exchange between the two champions. It seems now, as a result, that fight will happen.

However, given the recent epidemic of COVID-19 hitting boxing below the belt and seeing fights cancelled, fans are antsy about all fights. However, this one in particular has to be on the front part of the boxing community’s frontal lobe.

Spence took to social media to engage with the fans. To no surprise,he was asked about a fight with the Nebraska champion and replied without hesitation.

“Either this year or next year.”

That statement goes in line with what the Texas unified champion said last year during a ringside interview by Fox analyst Brian Kenny. The last time Spence was in the ring was against two-time champion “Showtime” Shawn Porter (30-3, 17ko) The bout was a very exciting razor-close fight that most feel he won because of an eleventh round knockdown.

For the moment, boxing is on shaky legs. However, if the sport recovers, the boxing community is still going to be hungry for these two prime champions to meet.
