Errol Spence Wants a Late-Year Rematch With Terence Crawford!

Prior to their collision, most thought that Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr (28-1, 22 KO’s) vs Terence “Bud” Crawford (40-0, 31 KO’s) would be a fiercely competitive welterweight match. Instead Bud completely dominated and dismantled Spence in every possible way. As a result, Crawford bullied, pummeled and then stopped Spence to add The Truth’s WBA, IBF and WBC titles to his WBO strap, making him the undisputed champion of the division. Despite the one-sided nature of the pasting, Spence is looking to run it back one more time.

YOU REALLY WANT THIS AGAIN?!

Even before the match was staged, it was a near guarantee that the loser would want a rematch. Now that Crawford has turned in this grand showing however, the biggest problem for Spence will be drumming up interest with the fans. The huge appeal for the first battle was the suspense of finding out who was the better specimen in their “50/50” dustup. With their confrontation officially in the books, it appears that Bud is the superior fighter by leaps and bounds.

The only potential argument that Spence can make for a rematch is saying that he was too drained at 147. The Truth has already stated numerous times that he would love to run the fight back, but at 154. While there is some validity to this theory, its still hard to believe that The Truth will perform that much better given how thoroughly he was worked over,

In fact, staging the rematch at 154 could very well work right into Crawford’s hands. Like Spence, making the welterweight weight limit is not the easiest for Bud either. So moving up could also produce a more efficient Bud Crawford. Also, the undisputed champion was already flirting with a duel with undisputed super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo. Therefore a rematch with Spence could very well be a safe tester fight to see how he performs in the new weight class. In the end, the future is looking exceedingly bright for Crawford and eerily uncertain for Spence. Thankfully, no matter what happens next, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news!
