Lopez shines with first round KO

From Madison Square Garden in New York City Teofimo Lopez (8-0,7KO’s) made quick work of Vitor Freitas (14-2,8KO’s). Lopez, a rising prospect, stopped Freitas at 1:04 mark of the first round. Lopez landed a clubbing right and Freitas could not beat the count.

The future looks bright for the 20 yr old who is making a name for himself as he has looked impressive early in his career. One can wonder what’s next for the young man, as he keeps looking better and better each time out.

Earlier in the night Mikaela Mayer (5-0,3KO’s) dominated Baby Nansen (6-3-1) in a lopsided beat down. If there’s anything positive to say about Nansen is that she has a chin on her. Mayer made it look easy all night long, with constant pressure. She landed power shot after power shot.

Mayer mixed in her punches well showed tremendous skills using her jab to set things up. She found a home for her left hook early and often, Nansen simply didn’t have answers and could not mount any type of offensive attack. It was just simply a dominant performance for the young lady.

Also “Semper Fi” Jamel Herring (17-2,10KO’s) scored a TKO victory over a very game Juan Pablo Sanchez (30-16,14KO’s). Herring survived a cut caused by a head butt and went on to stop Sanchez at the 1:28 mark of round five. It was Herring’s first fight with Top Rank as the former marine looks to get his career back on track.
