Tim Tszyu Eyes Another Fight Ahead of Likely October Bout with Charlo
WBO mandatory junior middleweight challenger Tim Tszyu (22-0,16KO) is looking to stay busy while waiting on the showdown with undisputed champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (35-1-1, 19KO). Moreover, Tszyu’s manager, Glen Jennings, revealed the Charlo fight could happen in October.
During an interview with ProBox TV News, Jennings disclosed plans for another Tszyu fight in Australia and a possible target month for the undisputed showdown.
“Right now, we are just about to finalize another fight for Tim here in Australia whilst we wait for Charlo. Things are moving along with Charlo in the right direction, but it looks likely that will be in October in the United States.”
TSZYU CONTINUES WAITING FOR THE UNDISPUTED CHAMPION
Tim Tszyu has been waiting for his shot at Charlo since the WBO ordered the fight in May 2022. Charlo suffered a broken left hand in training camp, resulting in the fight’s postponement for January.
After watching Tszyu stop former foe and champion Tony “Super Bad” Harrison on March 12, Iron Man was ready to settle things with Tszyu in the summer. However, he was forced to push things back again due to another setback from the injury.
The Aussie has been very vocal about Charlo needing as much time as possible before stepping in the ring against him. It was reported that a fight with fellow countryman Michael Zerafa was in the works, but the fight never materialized.
Team Tszyu shocked everyone by taking on a quality opponent in Harrison. It will be interesting to see who they choose to fight this time around. More importantly, whenever the fight with Jermell Charlo is official, hopefully there are no more setbacks.
