According to WBC President a rematch could be ordered
Apparently a rematch between Adrien Broner and Jessie Vargas is trying to be ordered by the WBC.
This seems a little strange as Broner is nowhere to be found in the current WBC rankings at Welterweight, Vargas however is as he’s ranked number three behind Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter, two guys who will fight for the vacant title.
While talking about the negotiations between Garcia and Porter this is what Sauliman had to say about a Broner and Vargas rematch being ordered.
“We have the purse bid scheduled for May 25 [for Garcia-Porter], but it seems that they are very advanced in their talks to reach an agreement and we hope they will notify us soon, but in addition, we will order a direct rematch between Jessie Vargas and Adrien Broner, because it was a draw.” said Sulaiman.
It’s no big shocker that a rematch between Broner and Vargas could happen, the shocker is that the WBC is planning on ordering the rematch.
Sulaiman said the first fight was a title eliminator but it’s not listed as such nor was it advertised that way. Interested in seeing what comes from this as Broner has been rumored as an opponent for a few other names as well.
