Tony Yoka and Martin Bakole Looking To Take Their Careers To the Next Level
As we head towards the final months of 2021, an interesting under-the-radar fight is under construction between up-and-coming prospects in the heavyweight division. According to Sky Sports, Martin Bakole (17-1, 13 KOs) has accepted an offer to fight Tony Yoka (11-0, 8 KOs).
The proposed fight would take place in December in Yoka’s home country of France. Bakole’s trainer, Billy Nelson, disclosed the news during an interview with Sky Sports. He said all that’s needed now is confirmation from Team Yoka, and the fight is a go.
READY TO STEP THEIR GAME UP
Both fighters are hungry to make their mark and take their careers to the next level. Following a stoppage win over Petar Milas in September 2021, Yoka stated he wants to fight someone ranked in the Top 15. Nelson said that a match with Yoka is the breakthrough opportunity they’ve wanted.
LIKING THEIR CHANCES
In assessing his fighter’s chances against the talented Frenchman, the trainer was very confident about how Bakole would perform. Aware that the match will be on enemy territory, he believes his charge has more than enough to win.
“Martin will go over there and knock him out, I believe… We don’t care where it is, although it will be harder in France. Yoka is a big, strong guy. The bigger the better for Martin, who sees it as a challenge… Martin is much better than anyone he has fought.”
If finalized, it would be a contest of men just entering the heavyweight world rankings. Bakole is ranked #15 by the IBF and WBA. Yoka is #6 by the IBF and #15 by the WBO. On paper, this is a pretty even match with no discernable favorite. Please stay tuned to 3KingsBoxing for further updates.
