Janibek Alimkhanuly Predicts Sensational Knockout Over Steven Butler
On May 13, Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly (13-0, 8 KOs) will make the second defense of the WBO middleweight title against Canada’s Steven Butler (32-3-1, 26 KOs). But the defending champ comes into this bout with a chip on his shoulder.
Alimkhanuly’s last outing took place in November 2022 against Denzel Bentley. In the first defense of the WBO strap, many pundits expected Alimkhanuly to blast through Bentley with ease. But Alimkhanuly was forced to go the distance.
A DIFFERENT MINDSET
Afterward, Alimkhanuly was not happy with his performance. Heading into the upcoming bout with Butler, “Qazaq Style” promises to impress. Speaking to Ring Magazine, the 30-year-old talked about his renewed focus and commitment in training camp, and how he feels it will benefit him against Butler.
“To be honest, the last fight changed me. Now, I am a different boxer. I already feel it. We have changed the training process. I am currently working with very educated conditioning trainers. I had five sparring partners in this camp. Twice a week, we work ten rounds in the mitts. I’m already different.”
He’s facing a Butler known for having power in both hands. For the challenger, this is his second world title attempt. In December 2019, Butler was stopped in five rounds by two-time WBA champion Ryota Murata.
LOOKING TO LEAVE NO DOUBT
The WBO champion seems unbothered by Butler’s reputation. Alimkhanuly is confident he can combat anything the Canadian offers on fight night. Qazaq Style is hungry to defend his title and give the public something to remember.
“To be honest, he’s not on my level. Yes, he has a good record. He’s beat worthy boxers. But I’m not like everyone else. I am different. My style is different. I will knock him out.”
“It will be hot in May! In May, my fans will witness the knockout of the year, inshallah!”
