Cecilia Braekhus cruises by Victoria Bustos!

Known as “The First Lady” of boxing, the first undisputed female in boxing history and ten year welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus (36-0, 9KOs) did what she’s so accustomed to. Dominate her opposition!

In making her DAZN debut, Braekhus would take on the fearless and tough former two-division world champion Victoria Noelia Bustos (19-6, 0KO) in her tenth defense as an undisputed champion!

Known for her supremely gifted boxing ability, her skills were once again on display as she opened the bout utilizing her jab to set the distance and pace of the fight.

Sporting advantages in both height and reach, Braekhus lined her opponent up with hard right hands and left hooks that began to take its toll on the outgunned former champion as the fight moved forward.

In the sixth round, Braekhus unloaded on a short left hook in close range that sent Bustos down. It seemed to be a legit knockdown, however, the referee ruled it as a push. In viewing the instant replay, it showed a clean punch had landed.

To be honest it really didn’t matter. At this point, the undisputed champ was comfortably ahead with less than a once percent chance of losing the fight. Not even a “punchers chance” could be there for Bustos as she has zero knockouts 25 fights!

After ten rounds of domination the scorecards were read.

To no ones surprise “The First Lady” was announced as the winner by way of a unanimous decision. The scores read 99-91 and 98-92×2. If we wanted to be extremely picky and annoying, we could say the arguably #1 female pound-for-pound champion was robbed of a shut-out victory. But I digress.

Regardless, her 35th career victory pushes her closer to a huge showdown with fellow undisputed lightweight and WBO junior welterweight champion Katie Taylor (15-0, 6KOs) in 2020.
