Trevor Bryan Calls into Question the Fortitude of Daniel Dubois
On June 11, WBA Regular heavyweight champion Trevor “The Dream” Bryan (22-0, 15KOs) will put his title on the line against the hard-hitting Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois (17-1, 6KOs). The 32-year-old New York native is an underdog heading into this fight. However, you can’t tell when talking to him.
Dubois is a very talented fighter with a monstrous right hand! Ever since he returned to the ring after suffering his first career defeat against Joe Joyce back in November of 2020, he has bounced back nicely. His record is 2-0, with both wins coming by knockout.
Dubious, who quit in that Joyce fight, may not ever fully recover from that moment. While most people think he beats Bryan, the champion is quick to point out that Dubois made a grave mistake in pursuing a fight with him.
Bryan told The Lowdown the following:
“Daniel Dubois is a strong fighter. He’s fought some good guys and all that, but I’m on a different level. You see, the first time he came up against some opposition, he quit. I mean, he gave up!”
Bryan’s words ring true: Dubois did quit. While he did suffer a broken orbital bone, one of boxing’s biggest no-no’s is quitting a match. What Bryan is saying is nothing new. Dubois will always find not only his heart being questioned, but whether or not he has the willingness and mental fortitude to push through adversity when in battle.
On June 11, The Dream gets to try and further expose that flaw in Dubois. Conversely, Dynamite gets to continue to try and put that Joyce loss behind him as he continues on towards what he hopes will become a great career.
