Chantelle Cameron vs Mikaela Mayer Will Be a Fan-friendly Affair
Newly crowned WBO 154-pound champion Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron took away Michaela Kotaskova’s undefeated record. In addition, she picked up the title that used to belong to two-divisional champion Mikaela Mayer, meaning a unification is next.
Il Capo looked extremely comfortable fighting at the higher weight, as she was bullying Kotaskova up against the ropes. The former 140-pound undisputed champion landed hard shots to the body, the straight right hand, and uppercuts. Cameron kept the Czechian fighter on the back foot for the majority of the fight as both women closed the show strong.
CAMERON VS MAYER IS CURRENTLY COOKING
After getting the unanimous decision, Cameron is now a two-divisional champion. So, the question to ask is: what’s next? After the fight, she wasted no time in revealing that a fight with Mayer is going to be next.
“I’ve wanted this fight with Mikaela for ages…we should give the fans a great fight.”
During the post-fight interview, Mayer also expressed excitement about the fight.
“I’ve always wanted to fight her. I think she feels the same, and it’s going to be easy to make cause we’re both with MVP.”
Mayer is wasting no time in taking on the biggest challenges possible since recently signing with MVP Promotions. Like Cameron, she also likes to come forward and is a counterpuncher. This is a fight where the boxing public will get their money’s worth. Both women deserve major credit for making the fight that fans will undoubtedly enjoy watching.
