Carl Frampton to return in August
Former two-division world champion Carl “The Jackal” Frampton (27-2, 15KOs) is returning to the ring in August. This is according to his promoter Bob Arum.
Frampton was originally on schedule to face WBO junior lightweight champion Jamel “Semper Fi” Herring (21-2, 10KOs) on June 13 in Belfast, Ireland. However, that fight was panned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Frampton last fought Tyler McCreary (18-1-1, 7KOs) in November of 2019. He would drop McCreary twice en route to an unanimous decision win.
There’s no opponent or set date at the moment for “The Jackal”. The opponent will likely serve as nothing more than a tuneup fight before the likely fight with Herring in 2021.
