Edwin De Los Santos Makes Explosive Return to the Win Column Against Luis Acosta

It was education time for Luis Acosta (12-1, 11 KOs) as he faced Edwin De Los Santos (14-1, 13 KOs) at the Deadwood Mountain Grand Hotel in Deadwood, South Dakota in an eight-round lightweight contest. A college graduate, Acosta has a degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiology from the University of Houston. After years of living the double life between boxing and his studies, the hard-hitting 25-year-old is ready to make a permanent, long-time life in The Sweet Science.

But De Los Santos represented a step up in class. The 22-year-old from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic entered the bout coming off a loss to William Foster III in January 2022. Yet, like his opponent, he has the reputation of a puncher. Despite the glossy records, both men have fought suspect opposition.

ONE-SHOT BOOM!

Both fighters held nothing back in this one. A southpaw, the taller De Los Santos started matters establishing the jab. Midway through the opening round, he put Acosta down with a right hook to the head.

Expressing extreme confidence, he ended matters in the second. Thirty seconds into the round, he used the jab to land with a one-hitter quitter of a left hand. Acosta landed flat on his back, and his head violently bounced off the canvas. Hurt, there was no need for a count. The referee quickly stepped in and called a halt to the contest.

Coming off a loss in his last, bout De Los Santos rebounded explosively. As for Acosta, he has more lessons to learn in the ring.
