Diego Pacheco and Eduardo Hernandez Win By KO; Rodriguez vs Gonzalez a Draw

Super middleweight prospect Diego Pacheco (19-0, 16KO) scored a devastating knockout over a tough Manuel Gallegos (19-2-1, 16KO) in four quick rounds.

Boxing fans got to witness a good mixture of pure boxing ability and game-changing power in Pacheco. Fighting behind jab, the young lion held off a very aggressive Gallegos early in the fight. It wasn’t easy as both fighters were egual in height and reach, as Pacheco took a few hard shots on the chin.

Yet, he continued to show patience beyond his years and made the adjustment by taking a half-step back to avoid shots only to return fire with counter-hooks or a straight right hand. Then in round four, Pacheco landed a counter-left hook to the liver that folded Gallegos like a lawn chair.

Gallegos somehow got up only to find himself on the receiving end of a barrage of hard shots that forced the referee to jump in and stop the fight. Pacheco continues to shine and show major improvements with every fight.

EDUARDO HERNANDEZ EASILY DISMANTLES HECTOR GARCIA

Fighting under the Matchroom Boxing banner, junior lightweight contender Eduardo Hernandez (34-1, 31) easily dismantled replacement fighter Hector Garcia (20-8-4, 14KO).

Ranked number one by the WBC, Hernandez came out on fire by throwing nothing but power shots. Inspired by fighting in front of the home crowd and with a possible title shot on the horizon, the hard-punching Mexican looked sharp landing the jab and overhand right. As his opponent tried to make the adjustment, Hernandez landed a hook that put Garcia on wobbly legs in the second round.

After getting hit by a barrage of punches, Garcia narrowly survived the round. Yet, in round three, he was hit by a bone crushing left hook that was the beginning of the end as Hernandez unloaded more punches that forced the referee to step in just as Garcia crumbled to the canvas.

JONATHAN RODRIGUEZ VS ISRAEL GONZALEZ ENDS IN A DRAW

In a battle featuring super flyweight title challengers in a crossroads battle, Jonathan Rodriguez (24-2-1, 16KO) and Israel Gonzalez (28-5-2, 11KO) fought to a draw in a fan-friendly contest.

These two fighters kicked off the action from the start of the bell. Rodriguez came on strong with crisp counter-shots while coming forward and fighting well off the front foot. He controlled the fight with volume punches and used the angles to stay one step ahead of Gonzalez.

In the second half, Gonzalez found a home for those body shots and was beginning to turn the tide. He got on those toes and used defense combined with a good jab that saw him charge back into the fight.

Down the stretch, both men were on fire as Rodriguez started landing uppercuts and pinpoint accurate counterpunches that hurt his opponent. However, Gonzalez’s investment in the body was paying off as he was able to shift the momentum once again.

The three judges scored the fight 96-94 Gonzalez, 96-94 Rodriguez, with the last judge scoring it 95-95 making the fight a draw. 3Kings Boxing agrees with the fight being a draw.
