Newly crowned IBF heavyweight champion Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) is a fighter whose career is on an upward surge. Fighting better than ever, will it continue in his upcoming September 21 showdown with Anthony “AJ” Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs)? Dubois is confident that he will get the job done.

It was an unusual route in which Dubois attained the title. He became the IBF interim champion with an eighth-round stoppage over Filip Hrgovic on June 1 in Saudi Arabia. When undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk announced that he was relinquishing the IBF strap, the IBF elevated Dubois to full-time champion.

DETERMINED AND FOCUSED

Dubois versus Joshua will occur at Wembley Stadium in London, England. It’s a fight featuring two Brits who are very familiar with one another. Many of the pundits consider Joshua the favorite. But at a news conference to announce the upcoming contest, Dynamite told the boxing press that his goal is to exterminate AJ.

“I’m really up for this. I’m ready to go . . . AJ has been the king for a long time. We all know he’s been the king for a long time. On the night, I need to become a king slayer, and that’s my goal, and that’s part of the mission at hand. So, I’m just ready to go.”

Following a stoppage defeat to Usyk in August 2023, many in the boxing community were ready to write off Dubois and put him out to pasture. However, he’s rebounded with an inspired performance in a unanimous decision win over Jarrell Miller in December 2023 and the victory over Hrgovic.

Next up is Joshua, who has been in the division’s upper echelon for nearly a decade. A former unified champion, AJ is looking to win another world title. With his size, power, and experience, Dubois could be in store for a very tough night.

But the champion packs a punch of his own. He’s also someone with plenty of heart and a fighter who is willing to fight through the fire. Dynamite is more than capable putting Joshua down for the count.

Can Dubois chop down AJ and successfully defend the IBF title for the first time? Wembley Stadium should be jam-packed and buzzing for this highly-anticipated domestic UK showdown.
