Ellie Scotney Decisions Mayelli Flores to Earn Undisputed Crown!
Super bantamweight champion Ellie Scotney (12-0, 0 KO) made history in defeating WBA 122-pounds champion Mayelli Flores (13-2-1, 4 KO’s) by unanimous decision. With the win, Scotney became the undisputed super bantamweight champion of the world. She is the only female fighter from the UK to claim the distinction.
As the humble champion that she is, after first giving thanks to her god, the first thing that Cameron did was give credit to her opponent.
“First and foremost, all glory, all honor to my savior Jesus Christ – only God. I am telling you, day of resurrection, wow! I can’t tell you how hard of a fight that was and I think the scorecards didn’t give her justice. She was nonstop from the first bell and when I tell you I had to go through so many tests just to get in this ring today, only God pulled me through…she was my toughest test and I gave everything tonight.”
When directly asked what her next move was, the champ essentially left it up in the air.
“Right now, I am going to enjoy this moment, I’ve waited a long time for it so I am going to sit down with the team.”
