Frank Martin Confident He Stops Devin Haney If They Fight!
Following his latest prizefight with Artem Harutyunyan, rising lightweight contender Frank “The Ghost” Martin (18-0, 12 KO’s) retained his hunger for the big fights. Despite admittedly having a flat night in the squared-circle, Martin (28), insisted he was still the goods. The Ghost was so adamant that he not only professed his desire to face undisputed lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (30-0, 15 KO’s), he felt he’d stop him within the distance.
“I’d beat him, knockout, probably like the eighth round.”

THE BETTER ODDS
Realistically, Martin getting the nod to face Haney next would require nothing short of a minor miracle. The smart money is on The Dream moving up to super lightweight where more than likely he’ll dance with WBC 140-pound champion Regis Prograis. Even supposing that Haney (24), remained at 135, a weight class he has outgrown, it’d only be for a huge fight with names like Ryan Garcia or regular WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis.
Unlike his gym mates, two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. or undisputed super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo, Martin is still trying to establish himself as a marquee draw. Therefore, instead of Haney, The Ghost would probably do better to focus on “Fearless” Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KO’s).
While Stevenson is a two-division champion, he also finds himself caught in a “trick-back”. Fearless is only one fight into the weight class and searching for a meaningful dance opponent. Just like Martin, the Haney’s, Davis’ and Garcia’s of the division are more concerned with each other. So, in the meantime, Martin versus Stevenson, 26, may not be so bad of an alternative .
