Ryan Garcia to Find Deliverance in Tank Davis Fight?
Recently, 3Kings Boxing reported on Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (23-0, 19 KO’s) doing what he does best – jumping the gun and promising the world another big fight was a done deal . This time, the newly established super lightweight assured that he had delivered a match with Gervonta “Tank” Davis (27-0, 25 KO’s). Thankfully, as reported by Sports Illustrated, it turns out that this is actually the case.
If all goes to plan, the two will glove up and go to war sometime in January. And this contest will see Davis, the regular WBA lightweight champion, meet King Ry at a 136-pound catchweight. This should not be too big of an ask however, given that Tank fought and stopped Mario Barrios while competing as a full super lightweight just last year.
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR?
By all accounts, this is one exciting fight. Both have very buzzing names in the industry and among the casual fans. They both can box, they both can punch. There is legitimate dislike and the feud already has a long standing backstory. Not to mention that each boxer has a tremendous amount to lose. This is especially so if they are defeated by knockout!
Garcia, 24, all through his own doing, has painted a picture of himself as being unreliable. Even worse, many view him to be not very serious about the sport. Now, for the first time, he has a duel with a guy with all the intangibles. He is youthful, powerful, confident and extremely comfortable performing on the big stage. If King Ry got clobbered and concussed now, it would provide a whole lot more bass to that chorus of people calling him a social media hype job. Or, it could be the win that legitimizes Garcia once and for all.
Only time will tell if this is the fight that makes or breaks Ryan Garcia. Luckily, no matter what happens, 3Kings Boxing will be there to report the news.
