Gervonta Davis And Rolando Romero Will Settle Their Beef in the Ring
WBA “regular” lightweight and junior welterweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (25-0, 24KOs) will return to the ring against unbeaten former WBA interim champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero (14-0, 12KOs). The two will meet December 5 in Los Angeles at the Staples Center.
This is according to Davis himself.
This matchup is intriguing due to both fighter’s explosive power. Davis, who’s a multi-weight champion, is coming off a eleventh round stoppage over former WBA regular junior welterweight champion Mario Barrios in June.
A BIG OPPORTUNITY
Romero, he’s coming off a seventh round knockout over Anthony Yigit in July. He maintains the position as the number one ranked WBA lightweight contender. The former interim champion has called out pretty much the entire lightweight division with no success. The names include WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney, unified champ Teofimo Lopez and Golden Boy Promotions “golden goose” Ryan Garcia. He became extremely vocal about fighting Davis after his win over Yigit.
This provides an opportunity of a lifetime! It also gives Romero a chance to back up his brash trash talk. A win would catapult his career enormously. An underdog with tons of confidence and power, Romero will be coming to take Davis out!
For Davis, he’s slowly becoming a pay-per-view (PPV) attraction having fought his last two fights there. This bout against Romero will be another PPV showcase and another opportunity to show why Floyd Mayweather has tabbed him as the “future of boxing.”
Regardless of what happens come December 5, this writer knows not to blink as these two have 36 knockouts combined between them. Styles makes fights and this could be a “Fight of the Year” candidate. Buckle up and get ready to enjoy a matchup that will surely provide excitement and a possible concussive conclusion!
