Jarrett Hurd Finally Returns!

Former unified junior middleweight champion “Swift” Jarrett Hurd (23-1, 16ko) will be returning against unknown Francisco Santana (25-7-1, 12ko), on the undercard of former two-divisional champion Danny “Swift” Garcia vs Ivan “El Terrible” Redkach.

It has been a minute since the boxing world heard from the former unified champion. He lost the titles back in May to then-challenger Julian “J-Rock” Williams. Things haven’t been going too well. Leading up to a rematch with the Philadelphia champion, out of nowhere, the former unified champion fired longtime coach Ernesto Rodriguez.

Then there were the allegations of possible juicing when he mysteriously pulled out of the rematch. Now looking to conquer those demons, returning to the ring is always the first start.

Santana, although not well known, brings a wealth of experience to the ring. For starters, he is a former WBA International welterweight titlist and isn’t a stranger to the junior middleweight division.

The 33-year-old veteran has shared the ring with some serious names in boxing. There was Felix Diaz, Sadam Ali, Joachim Alcine, Karim Mayfield, Jermell Charlo and a draw with unified champion Julian Williams early in his career. This is a great opportunity for the veteran fighter as he took to social media to make the announcement.

Hurd will undoubtedly want to look impressive and regain the titles once again. However, the first step must be completed before looking too far into the future. The fight is scheduled to take place at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NY on January 25 live on Showtime.
