Badou Jack Returns Against Jean Pascal!

After nearly a year of inactivity, former two-division champion Badou “The Ripper” Jack (22-2-3, 13 KO’s) is returning to action. On December 28, Jack will take on Jean Pascal (34-6-1, 20 KO’s) for his interim WBA world light heavyweight title at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The exciting title fight will air live on SHOWTIME boxing.

When last seen in the ring, Jack staged an extremely bloody battle with “Sir” Marcus Browne (23-1, 16 KO’s). From the very beginning, Browne was a very tough out, yet things became exponentially worse in the seventh round.

It was then that an unintentional headbutt split open a horrendous vertical gash in between his eyes. Although he would make it to the final bell, the Ripper was greatly handicapped by the gaping wound. When all was said and done, Jack lost a very wide unanimous decision loss.

BADOU JACK RESURFACES

Since that January 19 bout in the MGM Grand, Jack has largely vanished from the boxing radar. Now, the Sweden born professional knuckle-chucker has burst back onto the scene in a major way.

Jack himself announced the impending bout via his Instagram account.

Somewhat ironically, Jack’s next opponent, Jean Pascal was last in the ring with Browne. And in that fight too, there was a frightfully large cut opened up by way of accidental head-butt. This time however, it was Browne who suffered the cringe inducing cut.

Unlike the Ripper, Sir Browne’s cut was too severe to make it to the scorecards. Unfortunately for the Staten Island born boxer, the judges did not rule in his favor. Even more vexing, when Browne dropped the decision loss, he also lost the interim title that he secured with his win over Jack.

Therefore, while the Ripper may not have had his shot at revenge against Browne, he is being provided an opportunity to grab that elusive WBA belt again.
