Joel Diaz believes Caleb Plant is going to get hurt against Canelo Alvarez!

It’s fight week for Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant! The two super middleweight champions will collide on November 6. The winner will make history by becoming boxing’s first ever undisputed super middleweight champion.

Alvarez, a four-division world champion, heads into this matchup as a significant favorite. His skills and big fight experience has fueled his pre-fight position as the favorite. Conversely, Plant, the IBF champion who’s unbeaten, is viewed as a good fighter, but simply not on the level of the Mexican superstar. Many people feel he’ll be in over his head once the two men step in the ring.

However, trainer Joel Diaz not only feels Plant is in over his head in this fight, he also feels that’ll he pay a painful price. He told fighthype.com the following on what he thinks will happen come fight night.

BILLY JOE SAUNDERS REPLAY?

“Look, analyzing the fight, I’ve analyzed fights before and you know at times I’m not concerned. But I can tell you this, this fight with Plant is going to be similar to the Saunders fight, similar. Canelo is going to get in there, be patient. He’s going to have trouble in the early rounds because of Caleb’s speed. But Canelo’s smart, he has really good reflexes, he avoids a lot of punches. He’s going to apply the pressure, he’s going to attack to the body and when he’s ready, he’s going land some good shots.

That’s the way it’s going to go. I think Canelo is going to hurt Plant after the eighth round. In the early rounds, like I said, he’s going to have a little bit of problems, but that’s the way the fight is going to play out. It’s going to play out similar to the Canelo-Saunders fight.”

Truth be told, there are similarities in the styles of Caleb Plant and Billy Joe Saunders. Both can provide slickness and elusiveness. But, will there be similarities in how Alvarez-Plant plays out? Let’s hope we don’t see a replay ending of Alvarez v Plant, if similar circumstances arise.

If you’re a fan of Plant and are reading this, I’m sure you’re as upset as a kid who’s been told to eat their vegetables before they can have dessert. However, Plant, in his previous fights and leading up to this fight in interviews, has given no indication that he has any quit in him, and that he expects nothing less than a victory come November 6.
