Erik Bazinyan Gets A Gift Draw Against Shakeel Phinn

In a super middleweight showdown that ended in a draw, “The Jamaican Juggernaut” Shakeel Phinn (26-3-2, 17KO) was robbed of victory against Erik Bazinyan (32-0-1, 23KO).

It was a fight from the start of the bell as both men went to work letting their hands go. The Jamaican Juggernaut made things very uncomfortable for the undefeated contender by landing hard right hands and body shots throughout the fight.

Bazinyan fought behind the jab and looked to land those powerful hooks. In addition, he started going to the body looking to slow the older veteran. As the fight continued, he was under constant fire. Phinn was relentless and landed hard right hands that hurt the undefeated contender several times.

The more confident veteran kept coming forward, applying pressure, and landing repeated hard shots. However, Bazinyan came charging back with three and four-punch combinations off the back foot. Phinn turned the heat back up by forcing Bazinyan into the corner with more punishing shots.

As the fight was coming to a close, The Jamaican Juggernaut continued landing brutal unanswered shots that hurt Bazinyan several times until the final bell sounded.

One judge scored it 97-93 for Phinn, one judge scored it 96-94 for Bazinyan, and the final judge scored it 95-95. 3Kingsboxing agrees with the first judge’s card. There is no way Bazinyan won more than three rounds.

Team Bazinyan was looking to Diego Pacheco but after this performance, they may want to put that on hold.
