Angelo Leo Dominates Tramaine Williams to Become WBO Champion

Angelo Leo and Tramaine Williams, both undefeated super bantamweight contenders, would square off in an unexpected title fight.

Originally set for Stephen Fulton (18-0, 8KOs), Leo was forced to shift gears after Fulton tested positive for COVID-19. For Tramaine Williams, he was set to face Raesse Aleem in the co-main event.

THE ACTION!

In the first couple of rounds, Williams, a southpaw, came out relaxed fighting from the outside. His sharp left straight-hand connected easily on Leo.

As round three arrived, Leo’s body attacked started to take over. He kept coming and coming, leaving Williams seemingly out of rhythm and forced to try and fight fire with fire.

THE MIDDLE ROUNDS!

As round five came around, it was clear that Leo was in charge! His constant pressure and body attack was starting to take a toll. Williams, who would have success on the inside, just wasn’t fighting a fight beneficial to his title hopes.

FINISHING STRONG!

After dominating the middle rounds, Leo finished strong as he completely out-worked and out-fought Williams en route to becoming the new WBO super bantamweight champion.

The scores read 117-11 and 118-110 twice for Leo by unanimous decision.

For Williams, this was a terrible performance considering the magnitude of this fight. Now he has to go back to the drawing board and regroup and work his way back up into title contention.
