Israil Madrimov to Pursue Jermell Charlo if he gets by Michel Soro!
After winning all of the titles at junior middleweight, undisputed champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (35-1-1, 19KOs) is a wanted man. Now that he has a chokehold on the division, there are many challengers that want their shot. While he’ll face WBO mandatory challenger Tim Tszyu (21-0, 15KOs) next on a date TBD, mandatory challenger Israil “The Dream” Madrimov (8-0, 6KOs) wants his opportunity!
Madrimov, who’s ranked number one in the WBA and number nine in the WBC, returns to the ring on July 9 in a rematch of his controversial stoppage victory over Michel Soro. Their first fight was a WBA title eliminator. However, with the controversial stoppage, the WBA awarded Soro a rematch. While he still has to handle business against Soro, who’s motivated to upend the unbeaten contender and earn his shot against Charlo, the Uzbekistan native is confident he’ll be victorious yet again once he and Soro step into the ring.
THE DREAM WANTS IRON MAN!
“Basically, we’re looking for Charlo, but he’s fighting Tim Tszyu first. And as far as I know, he’s also mandatory by the IBF, the Russian guy, so we’ll see how things go. But anyway, we’re looking for Charlo, in success with Soro.”
So while he’s in position for a world title opportunity, there’s a waiting period he has to go through before it’s his time to get his shot at Charlo.
