Featherweight Fighter Keith Colon Plotting his Takeover for 2027
Newark, New Jersey has long been a proving ground for gritty, high-level fighters, and featherweight prospect Keith Colon is aiming to carry that tradition forward as the city’s next world champion.
Known as “Tsunami,” Colon’s journey into boxing began under the guidance of his father, but it wasn’t until age 12 that he fully committed to the sport. That dedication quickly paid off. He compiled an impressive amateur résumé, highlighted by a silver medal at the National Golden Gloves and gold at the National Junior Championships, before turning professional in July 2024.
Inside the ring, Colon (10-0, 10 KOs) stands out for his poise and precision. At just 23, he shows a level of composure that suggests experience beyond his years, something likely sharpened through sparring with elite talent like three-division world champion and master technician Shakur Stevenson.
ONE STEP, ONE MISSION
Colon’s style blends clean boxing fundamentals with sharp punch placement to both the head and body. But beyond the physical tools, it’s his mindset that signals long-term potential. Speaking on the Boxeo Urbano Network podcast, he made his ambitions clear:
“2026 is to prove everybody and show everybody who I am. 2027, that’s where we’re chasing the world titles. […] Every test, that’s my goal, which is to not only win, but to dominate and show that I’m an elite fighter and that I’m the future.”
That confidence has been translated into results. In his latest outing, Colon made quick work of Luis Almendarez Morales, scoring a first-round stoppage on April 10 in Newark. It was another emphatic performance that reinforced his reputation as a rising force.
With a likely return to the ring in June, Colon is positioning himself for bigger opportunities. Still early in his career but already making a statement, he’s the kind of prospect who doesn’t just aim to win, he aims to take over.
