O”Shaquie Foster Pushes For The Winner Of Stevenson vs Conceicao

In the junior lightweight division, O’Shaquie “Ice Water” Foster (19-1, 11 KOs) is on the come-up. The 28-year-old is the WBC number one contender, earning that position with a decision win over Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov in March 2022 in a WBC world title eliminator.

Foster has eyes on fighting for a world title in his next fight. In an interview with ThaBoxingVoice, he disclosed that his team has been in contact with the WBC. “Ice Water” feels he’s done more than enough to earn a world title shot.

I WANT MY CHANCE

“Everybody they threw in front of us, we knocked them down. I have faith in [WBC President] Suliaman that he’ll do the right thing and make me mandatory.”

His preferred target would be a fight with reigning WBC/WBO champ Shakur Stevenson (18-0, 9 KOs), who defends those belts against Robson Conceicao on September 23. The champ and Foster are friends, but that goes outside the window, especially when the end game is a world belt.

The unified champ has established himself as one of the rising stars with as much natural ability as anyone. Foster is the skilled, hungry warrior raring to get his chance at glory.

“We on them. I’ll be focusing on training, so when that opportunity do arrive, they won’t know what hit them.”

Ultimately, it all depends on the WBC. If Stevenson is successful against Conceicao, they could mandate that his next title defense is against Foster.  In the end, “Ice Water” is determined to succeed. Staying on the grind, he believes he will capitalize whenever that coveted shot arises.
