Joseph Parker Argues Against Frank Warren for Making Joe Joyce Fight on Sky Sports
Former WBO world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (30-2, 21KO) and top unbeaten contender Joe “Juggernaut” Joyce (13-0, 12KO) are no longer facing each other. Moreover, Parker spelled out the reason why he pulled out of their agreement.
In April, news broke that the two heavyweights were negotiating to face each other on July 2. Fans were surprised to hear the news of the two fighters facing each other, considering how close they both are to possible title shots.
Joyce shocked the boxing community after stopping current WBA Regular champion Daniel Dubois in the tenth round back in 2020. Parker, on the other hand, fought three times in 2021, defeating prospect Junior Fa and claiming two victories over the ageless wonder, Dereck Chisora.
The fight is now off as Joyce is fighting Christian Hammer instead. In an interview with iFL TV, Queensberry Promotions head honcho Frank Warren was vividly upset while revealing a text message from Parker explaining why the fight is no longer a go.
“(reading text message to Joseph Parker) Hey Joe, just been told the fight’s off. So much for your handshake.
(reading response) Morning Frank. Apologies, it took a while to get the deal done. But I was offered a better deal last minute.”

A BETTER DEAL ON A BIGGER PLATFORM
The “better deal” Parker referred to is his new contract with Boxxer Promotions. While speaking with TalkSport, the New Zealand fighter explained his decision to join Boxxer, which exclusively airs fights with Sky Sports.
“They’re a bigger platform. We have a relationship with working with them in the past, and they’ve been very good to work with. They gave us an offer, which we thought was a lot better than what we’re getting from the other side.”

Parker also made clear that he still fancies the bout with Joe Joyce.
“We still want to get the fight with Joyce. I know they said because I signed with a different platform, we can’t make it happen. But, listen that’s where egos come into play! If Frank Warren doesn’t have an ego, I’m sure he can let Joe Joyce come onto the Sky platform and fight me.”

This situation just got very interesting, and hopefully cooler heads will prevail, and the fight can get revisited sometime later in the year.
