Joseph Parker Would Love a Rematch Against Dillian Whyte
As boxing is grounded inside of the ring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fighters are finding ways to keep their bodies and their minds active. But that doesn’t mean their attention is drawn away from future opponents once action hopefully resumes.
REVENGE ON HIS MIND
This is the case with former WBO world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (27-2, 21 KOs). During an interview with BBC Sport, the 30-year-old said he would love to avenge his loss to Dillian Whyte.
“We had a great first fight, he was the better man on the day but I believe I can beat him. I know that he wants to be champion of the world but if no one else wanted to fight him, I’m always here, always keen and I am always ready. So I would love a rematch.”
Parker and Whyte fought a hotly contested battle in July 2018, a fight in which both men were knocked down. Parker went down in rounds two and nine, Whyte went down in round twelve. For the New Zealander and former heavyweight champ, gaining vengeance against Whyte would put him smack dab back in line for a world title shot.
