Liam Paro Stops Brock Jarvis and Calls for Better Competition!

Australian junior welterweight contender Liam Paro (23-0, 14 KOs) made a case that he’s ready for a world title shot with a first-round stoppage of Brock Jarvis (20-1, 18 KOs) at the South Bank Piazza in South Brisbane, Australia.

SHORT AND SWEET

Paro used the first minute of the fight to get a feel of the aggressive Jarvis. Then the Aussie started to zone in, finding a home for southpaw jabs to the head and breadbasket of Jarvis. With forty seconds to go in round one, Paro landed with a peach of a straight left that put Jarvis on his back. With Jarvis clearly hurt and struggling to get back on his feet, the referee made the wise decision to call a halt to the contest.

BRING ON THE BIG DOGS

Ranked second by the WBO and sixth by the IBF at 140, Paro feels he’s on par with the best in the division. During the post-fight interview, the 26-year resident of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia said he’s willing to fight any and everyone at junior welterweight.

“Look, I’ve wanted the big names for ages, and I just proved that I’m levels above the domestic scene. I want the big names […] I hope we have a quick turnaround and back early in 2023 to conquer.”

Alongside Paro was his promoter, Eddie Hearn, who strongly suggested his fighter deserves a world title shot. Hearn mentioned one-time undisputed champion Josh Taylor and former unified 135-pound champ Teofimo Lopez as potential opponents.

3Kings Boxing has kept tabs on Paro going back to 2018.. He has steadily improved, showing himself to be a fighter of real promise. This performance against Jarvis is yet another example of his progress and a sign that he’s a force to be reckoned with.
