Pedraza dominates Molina for big win!
In a crossroads bout with possible title implications between Jose Pedraza and Javier Molina, both men would need to put on an impressive performance to warrant at shot against one of the champs at 140.
Pedraza, known as “Sniper”, would come out pressing the action trying to establish his presence immediately. Oppositely, Molina would elect to sit back and look to counter. In round 3, an accidental head butt would open up a cut over the right eye of Molina. Between switching from orthodox to southpaw, Pedraza was clearly dominating the action, while Molina appeared confused and timid.
HEATING UP!
The former two-division world champion Pedraza would start pull away as he let his hands go in a busy round six! Going downstairs with bad intentions would start to get the respect of Molina. Round seven was an even bigger round for Pedraza. He would pin Molina against the ropes and tee off! Hurting his opponent with shots to the head and body, nearly saw Molina go down.
Pedraza almost closed the show in the tenth and final round as he landed a buzz-saw straight left hand! To his opponent’s credit, he was not only able to survive the onslaught, but he managed to fight back and land some shots of his own. Overall, it was the foot movement, offensive output and better skill set that was just too much for Molina to overcome. Pedraza would win the fight by way of a unanimous decision with the scores being 98-92 twice and 99-91.
This win puts Pedraza (28-3, 13KOs) in position for a potential title shot sometime in 2021. Molina’s record falls to 22-3, 9 KOs. This loss snaps his five fight win streak.
