Hitchins vs Kambosos Targeted For The End Of June

Former IBF lightweight champion George “Ferocious” Kambosos Jr (22-3, 10KO) has no chance of beating IBF junior welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins (19-0, 7KO).

Ferocious fought late replacement Jake Wyllie and failed to impress in a unanimous decision victory. Kambosos did a good job boxing early but got hit by several hard shots and wobbled a few times. He did weather the storm from suffering a cut and pulled out the decision as two judges scored it 117-111, and one saw it 115-113.

In the in-ring post-fight interview, the Aussie and #3 IBF-rated contender called out Hitchins.

“Chitchins is a tip-top running kind of guy. If he comes and brings the brawl, that’s better for me … but I know he’ll run.”

Matchroom Boxing’s Chairman, Eddie Hearn revealed a possible date when they will clash.

“If that cut heals up, we got a date end of June at that is the date.”

These two have traded words on social media, with Kambosos claiming that Hitchins needs him to make a big fight. It prompted the IBF champion to respond with a slick comment and laughter.

In this author’s, Hitchins would easily beat Kambosos to the tone of 118-110. The Brooklyn native is a superb boxer with good footwork and crisp counter-punching while working behind the jab.

In addition, he can make adjustments in real-time which shows good ring IQ. If all goes well boxing fans will see these two clash next.
