Robert Helenius Flagged by VADA for Adverse Analytical Finding

When last in the ring, heavyweight fighter Robert “The Nordic Nightmare” Helenius (32-5, 21 KO’s) was clobbered and nailed to the canvas by a right hook to earn a seventh round knockout loss. In that affair, it was two-time heavyweight champion Anthony “AJ” Joshua (26-3, 23 KO’s) who delivered the blow. Now, to add insult to injury, it’s been revealed that Helenius was flagged by VADA for a failed drug exam.

SOME GO UP, SOME GO DOWN

Helenius, 39, is now 1-2 in his last three fights, having split a pair of knockouts between AJ and former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. Given his age and recent destructive dispatches, it’s very unlikely that Helenius gets close to anyone’s world title ever again. The Swedish pugilist himself spoke about the importance of not slipping back in the loss column if he was serious about another title run.

As it relates to Anthony Joshua, these results are rather meaningless. AJ sustained minor damage in the fight, got in rounds, a highlight knockout and his victory will remain untouched. Prior to the duel with Helenius, it was well-known that Joshua and Wilder were aiming to fight toward the end of the year. Had Joshua lost to The Nordic Nightmare however, then his showdown with Wilder would have been rendered forfeit. Obviously that was not the case.

Instead, as personally told by The Bronze Bomber, he and Joshua are working on a two-fight deal. If successful, they will fight first in Saudi Arabia and then in Africa. If AJ can win one, or both of those battles, he will without question inject new life and respectability back into his career and legacy. Only time will tell. As for Helenius, it’s time to go to the back of the line by way of the principal’s office.
