Shakur Stevenson Accepts Challenge From Ryan Garcia

WBO 140-pound champion Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson quickly accepted the challenge from “King” Ryan Garcia about a potential fight next. In addition, he sent a clear message to the Californian that can be viewed as an instant checkmate move.

Since defeating two-divisional champion Teofimo Lopez with ease, Fearless has skyrocketed to the top of the sport. His name is being brought up for any discussion, especially when it comes to who he should fight next.

During an interview with Ring Magazine, King expressed not only a desire to fight Stevenson, but he also suggested a catchweight of 144 pounds. This is providing he beats WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios on February 21

“I really want to fight Shakur…I want to go from Barrios to Shakur at 144.”

HE WANTS ALL THE SMOKE

Being the type of confident fighter he is, Stevenson didn’t hesitate to accept and added a little insult as well.

It’s a known fact that Garcia was sidelined for one year after testing positive for a banned substance against Devin Haney in 2024. Furthermore, he came under scrutiny after a terrible performance resulting in a loss to Rolando Romero in 2025.

Stevenson wants a rehydration clause for any welterweight. However, he seems okay with forgoing that request if Garcia is willing to do a catchweight. The New Jersey native isn’t messing around and has created a hitlist with some of the known names in boxing.

The sport has been off to an incredible start, and Stevenson has placed himself in the thick of it all. Potential fights with Garcia, Haney, and possibly Conor Benn have fans excited about seeing Fearless back in the ring, hopefully soon.
