Claressa Shields claims she will smoke Alejandra Jimenez but feels Franchon Crews-Dezurn should get a rematch!

There is no question that this was fantastic weekend for women’s boxing! On Friday, January 10 Alicia Napoleon Espinoza (12-2, 7 KO’s) unsuccessfully went to bloody war with newly crowned WBA and IBF super middleweight champion Elin Cederroos (8-0, 4 KO’s).

In the main event of the same card, arguably the face of women’s boxing and unified middleweight champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (10-0, 2 KO’s) thoroughly outclassed Ivana Habazin (20-4, 7 KO’s) in a successful debut at super welterweight. After besting Habazin, Shields picked up the vacant WBC and WBO world super welterweight titles.

Then on Saturday January 11 Mexican boxer Alejandra “La Tigre” Jimenez (13-0-1, 9 KO’s) exploded with a thrilling 10 round decision win over former WBC and WBO super middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn (6-2, 2 KO’s).

All in all these were some wonderful action fights that had knocked downs, blood and even some hair-weave beaten off! With all this commotion, fight fans certainly have their palate whet for more female fisticuffs.

SHIELDS READY FOR THAT ACTION

Out of all the weekend match-ups, Jimenez versus Crews-Dezurn has the juiciest story line. As could only be expected, Dezurn took to her social media to immediately seek the rematch.

However, in her post-fight interview, Jimenez wasted no time calling out Shields. After looking like a female Terminator, a showdown between Shields and Jimenez is the definition of must see TV.

Luckily, for the fans, Shields is not running from a dust-up with La Tigre. In an exclusive interview with ThaBoxingVoice the unified middleweight champ pulled no punches and did anything but hold her tongue!

“Just for the call out after, Jimenez don’t want no smoke with me!

“Really it’s not a problem for me to go back up to 168 because I walk around at 170, so if she want smoke I’ll bring fire. Jimenez don’t want no problems with me, I’ll box her shoes off and hit her so hard to the body she’ll be throwing up shit she ate from last week!

“I’d love to fight her in Mexico because that’s where she’s from. I’d go to Mexico and smoke her!”

T-REX FEELS A REMATCH IS IN ORDER

While Shields clearly harbors no reservations about taking on Jimenez as a potential foe, her loyalties remain with Dezurn. After watching the fight, not only does T-Rex feel like the former unified super middleweight champion should get a rematch, she is of the mind state that she never should have lost her belt

“I think that the fight was close but I didn’t think that Jimenez deserved to win because when you fighting against a world champ you got to take they belt. You can’t come in and have a close fight win few close rounds and win a belt. You don’t go in there and kind of keep it close, so for me I felt that Franchon held on to her belt.

“She can have those fights at 168 if she want to, but I’m the cash cow. I think she should rematch Franchon and the winner of that can fight Cederroos to become the undisputed champ at 168.”
