Errol Spence Optimistic That a Fight with Terence Crawford Will Happen
If there was one fight that most fans and pundits want to see, it’s a unification clash between unified
welterweight champ Errol Spence Jr (28-0, 22 KOs) and WBO 147-pound champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs). After years of back and forth talk, the process to make it happen is in full swing.
Negotiations became serious following Spence’s stoppage win over then-WBA Super champ Yordenis
Ugas (27-5, 12 KOs) in April 2022. During the post-fight interview, Spence was emphatic that he wants his next fight to be against “Bud”. In response, the WBO champ said his desire to fight Spence is stronger than ever.
During an interview with FightHub TV, Spence gave an update on where things stand. According to the unified champ, he’s very hopeful.
ALL SIGNS ARE POSITIVE
“I mean, it’s closer than it’s ever been. If it don’t happen now, it’s never going to happen. So yeah,
it’s way closer than what it used to be, so you know, I definitely think it’s gonna happen.”
For years, a stumbling block was that Crawford was fighting under the Top Rank banner while Spence
is with PBC. Crawford is now a free agent. His team now says the mission is doing whatever it takes to fight Spence. They’ve even hinted they are open to signing a deal with PBC.
These comments are further evidence and yet another positive sign. This fight is not only wanted by boxing heads but has drawn the attention of mainstream sports fans. Spence – Crawford would be not only for undisputed status at welterweight; it’s a fight that could determine the best fighter in the world. Stay tuned to 3Kings Boxing for continued updates.
