Terence Crawford Hints at Challenging Canelo Alvarez at 168

Two-divisional undisputed champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (40-0, 31KO) continues to express his desire to fight undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (59-2-2, 39KO). In his most recent post on social media possibly meant for Canelo, Bud made it known that he is currently above the weight limit.

Crawford suggest he can meet Canelo at 168

It’s no secret that Crawford is seeking another significant legacy match-up and has been campaigning to take on the Mexican mega-star. Initially, he aimed for a catchweight of 160 pounds. However, that idea was quickly abandoned as Crawford is now willing to go up to the full 168 pounds.

Initially, Canelo showed little interest in facing the Nebraskan, claiming that critics wouldn’t give him credit for a victory because Bud is the smaller fighter. Yet, he seems to have had a change of heart. In a recent statement, Canelo left the door open for a possible fight in the future.

SOME FANS ARE CRITICAL

On August 31, the boxing community learned that former unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence had activated the rematch clause. Rumors have circulated that Crawford wants the rematch to be at welterweight instead of junior middleweight, the weight division many fans believed the fight would take place in.

It is not surprising that boxing fans quickly pointed out the perceived inconsistency after seeing his previously mentioned social media post. If the rumors are true, and Crawford is attempting to make the rematch at a weight everyone knows is challenging for Spence to make, then this is only the beginning of the criticism that will come from boxing fans.
