In boxing, there is one fight the entire boxing community wants to see happen. It has to happen no matter how long it takes. That is unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence (27-0, 21ko) and WBO champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (38-0, 29ko). Moreover, Crawford once claimed the match-up was behind him. He is now on the hunt to make the bout happen.

Crawford finally got a chance to show what he can do against a top welterweight in two-time champion “Showtime” Shawn Porter on November 20. He is the first fighter to have stopped the tough-as-nails Porter after father/trainer Kenny Porter stopped the affair in the tenth round.

Immediately the focus was aimed at Spence, who happened to be in the building that night. When asked about the fight during the post-fight interview, his reply sparked a social media firestorm.

“You already know who I want. I’ve been calling him out all day. Maybe I’ll go up to 154. Maybe if Spence get his tail out his butt, he’ll fight me.”

ONCE UPON A TIME, CRAWFORD DID NOT CARE FOR THE FIGHT

Bud is on record having issues with the proposed purse split to the point he was no longer interested in the fight.

“I definitely should get the bigger share… He’s a great fighter, but I feel like 60/40, that’s the right price.”

“And they said it was me. I rest my case now, on to the next. That chapter is now closed.”

Crawford would double down on that same statement when questioned during the intermission of the Vergil Ortiz Jr versus Maurice Hooker card.

“I’m not even worried about Errol Spence anymore. I already told everybody that fight is history for me. I’m not thinking nor worried about Errol Spence anymore. That fight is behind me.”

Recently on the Last Stand Podcast, he kept the same energy when asked about a fight with Spence at 154.

“I really don’t see us fighting, to tell you the truth.”

A CHANGE OF HEART

Well, Crawford appears to have changed his mind and is actively pursuing the fight. It is good news to the boxing community because these two need to fight. It is the Thomas Hearn versus Sugar Ray Leonard of the modern era.

Crawford is more than likely to get the fight now, in large part to him being a free agent after saying goodbye to long-time promotional company Top Rank

With his newfound freedom, the WBO champion is now on the attack.

“I’m looking for you Errol, where you at? I’m in the ocean! You say you the big fish, I’m looking for you! Where yo ass at? Ole hoe ass….. we ain’t going to be able to find your punk ass out here!”
