Keith Thurman Accepts Terence Crawford’s Snub with Grace
It is no secret that former welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (30-1, 22 KO’s) is aching to get another shot at a title. Sadly for him though, he’s been blacklisted by former unified champion Errol Spence Jr. and now undisputed welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (40-0, 31 KO’s). Before losing his titles to Bud, Spence made it explicitly clear that he had zero desire to ever face One Time. Recently, Crawford took to his social media to make the same declaration.
It appears that both men are shunning Thurman for the same reason. The beef stems from when Thurman was the man to beat in the division. Back then, he wouldn’t grant either Bud nor Spence a shot at his titles. One Time had insisted that neither had done enough in the division to warrant a crack at his hardware. Now that Thurman has fallen far from his lofty perch, he is now the victim of the past snubbing.

Apparently being stranded on the wrong side of serious public interest has filled Thurman with a large measure of acceptance for his present reality. This was the overall flavor of his reaction to Crawford’s comments when conducting a Q&A with Fight Hub TV.
“Yeah man, I ain’t mad about it bro . . . I’m blessed to witness greatness out of our generation, period! I live this life, I walk this life. You live this life, you walk this life and I am proud of you, kid! I’m proud of you kid, I’m proud of you! That’s what my meditation does! I don’t hold resentment in my heart no more, I ain’t hating on y’all niggas no more! I got love for you, I got gratitude.”
NEW DAY, NEW OPPORTUNITIES
While he can’t be very happy about the present situation, there may be a silver lining on the horizon. This is because Crawford is likely to re-match Spence at 154-pounds and Bud has shown growing interest in facing undisputed champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. So, there is a high likelihood that Bud may move up and never come back down again.
If this is the case, then Crawford will have to give up the belts, thereby signaling a free-for-all to gobble up the vacant titles.
