Keith Thurman undergoes hand surgery!

As if 2019 wasn’t already a tough year for Keith Thurman, it may have just gotten a little tougher!

Thurman lost his unblemished record and his WBA Super welterweight title back on July 20 at the hands of Manny Pacquiao.

He also recently underwent surgery on what was described as a “nagging” injury to his left hand, which he sustained against the future Hall of Fame inductee.

This officially ends Thurman’s year after fighting previously against Josesito Lopez. This served as a return bout from a near two-year layoff from nursing an elbow injury shortly after his win over Danny Garcia in 2017.

Regardless of the injury, the former champion did not expect to fight for a third time this year.

Hopefully there are no setbacks in his recovery, as he expects to return in early 2020. A potential fight awaits against the Errol Spence vs Shawn Porter winner, as well as rematches with Pacquiao and Danny Garcia.

Thurman will need to be at full strength in order to compete at the highest level against the aforementioned.
