Chris van Heerden Questions Conor Benn Loss After Doping Flag
Earlier this year, welterweight contender Conor “The Destroyer” Benn (21-0, 14 KO’s) made easy work of Chris “The Heat” van Heerden (28-3-1, 12 KO’s). The UK bruiser, ranked #4 WBO, #4 WBA, #5 IBF and #5 WBC, accomplished this by extinguishing The Heat by way of second round knockout. At the time, rapid execution was taken at face value and all the participants went on with their lives. Yet, during the past week, The Destroyer has become ensnared in a drug scandal that has seriously sullied his name.
Mere days before his high-profile duel with family rival Chris Eubank Jr, Benn was flagged by VADA for having Clomiphene in his system. As a consequence, the BBBofC refused to sanction the fight, which led to the whole card being called off. Naturally, those loyal to Benn and his family are waiting for further information before passing judgment. A larger number of folks have all the news that they need and have condemned The Destroyer as a confirmed drug cheat.
YOUR WORD IS NO GOOD HERE!
While van Heerden did anything but crucify Benn, after taking to his social media, he did voice his opinion that his loss to Benn was now in question.
Whether he is guilty of the crime or not, there is no question that Benn will have to bear this cross for some time to come. Oscar Valdez is another popular fighter who was caught up in a doping outrage. Team Benn was waiting on the B sample to be tested in hopes that, if negative, it would go a long way to exonerating his name.
In the event that the B-sample was also dirty, this would only serve to compound the negativity of his situation by many folds. For his sake, let’s hope that he was not involved with any nefarious activities. Yet, regardless of where all the dust settles 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news!
