Deontay Wilder in hot water with the WBC over his recent comments about killing a man in the ring!
3kingsboxing has just learned that WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (40-0-1, 39 KO’s) will be brought before the WBC sanctioning body to answer for a number of his grim comments.
Just two days before his bad-blood match with Dominic “Trouble” Breazeale (20-1, 18 KO’s) WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman took to his Twitter account to explain the sanctioning body’s position.
On a number of occasions, while promoting the exciting May 18 title fight, Wilder has repeatedly declared that he is going to try to literally kill Breazeale during their fight. This is not the first time that the power-punching Alabaman has made such claims.
Prior to facing Bermane Stiverne, Wilder issued the same chilling declarations of wanting to put a “body on his resume”. The comments garnered a tidal wave of negative feedback then, as they have now. Only back then, nothing of any real consequence occurred.
Obviously, having had their fill of this reckless trash talking, the WBC will no longer idly sit by watching and passively listening. So on the eve of this thrilling showdown, Sulaiman made a public statement asserting that Wilder would have to come before the sanctioning body to answer for his grisly wishes.
According to Sulaiman, the vicious and mean-spirited comments violate both the sport itself and the WBC’s code of ethics.
