Big news regarding WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and DAZN!

Industry sources are reporting that Deontay Wilder is back in talks with the sports streaming service involving a deal that would make him a featured fighter. His promoter Lou Dibella orchestrated a phone call between Wilder and Jon Skipper.

Skipper is the Executive Chairman of Perform Group, which is the parent company to DAZN. In addition, he is a TV executive and former president of ESPN.

Apparently the phone conversation went well. Immediately after, Wilder notified manager Shelly Finkle, and advisor Al Haymon. All five parties are expected to meet next week to discuss more business. This is HUGE news considering DAZN just locked in a deal with Gennady Golovkin which will grant them full rights to feature a trilogy with Canelo Alvarez.

Recently, Wilder was ordered to fight his mandatory Dominic Breazeale. Fan reception was lukewarm at best, however, there is no word on if these negotiations will affect what network the fight will be on.

Some media sources even speculate it would be on Showtime PPV. ESPN and DAZN have shown interest in Wilder, backed by lucrative deals. Therefore, in order to match those figures, Showtime would need PPV revenue.

Most pundits wouldn’t expect that fight to sell, although, a potential undisputed heavyweight title clash with Anthony Joshua is the biggest money fight in all of boxing right now. Therefore, that’s what makes these talks so compelling. Hopefully a deal can be made so we can find out who this eras best big man is!
